What types of oils can be recycled as used motor oil?

Motor oil is only accepted for recycling at the Central Transfer Station in Centralia on days that the Hazo Hut is open to the public. The Hazo Hut is open every Wednesday, and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The following oils can be recycled as used motor oil: Please remember that each household is limited to 5 gallons of used oil disposed of each day (RCW 70.95I.030) (5)(c).

  • Engine oil
  • Transmission fluid
  • Hydraulic fluid
  • Power steering fluid
  • Gear oil
  • Kerosene
  • Diesel fuel

Absolutely none of the following fluids may be placed in the used motor oil tank:

  • Brake fluid
  • Gasoline
  • Antifreeze
  • Solvents or degreasers
  • Thinners or paints
  • Cooking oil or grease
  • Other flammable liquids and oil

Used Motor Oil Recycling Opportunities

The sites listed below are for residential customers who service their own personal vehicles. There is a 5 gallon limit per household per day.

Businesses with more than 5 gallons per day, please call 360-740-1221 to arrange to drop off your oil.

Used Motor Oil Collection Locations:

  • Central Transfer Station: 1411 S Tower Ave, Centralia, 360-740-1481, Hours: every Wednesday, and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Notes for Users

No out of County waste accepted

Please take your empty containers with you. Empty containers may be disposed of in the regular garbage.

Do not leave used oil filters. Used oil filters when drained may be disposed of in the regular garbage.

Do not leave other hazardous waste such as full containers, antifreeze, paint, thinners and solvents.
