Weddings

Lewis County Superior Court Judges are authorized by law to perform wedding ceremonies in the state of Washington. Wedding ceremonies are performed at the Lewis County Courthouse Monday through Friday at 5:00 p.m., and may also be performed at other locations and times, subject to the availability of the Judges. Off-site weddings must be arranged with the Judge, and the fees will vary, depending on the time commitment and location.

If you would like one of our judges to perform your wedding, please remember that there are three things that must take place before the wedding can occur.

First:
You MUST apply for and be issued a marriage license from a county auditor at least three days before the wedding. The license will be issued as part of a packet. Also included in the packet will be marriage certificates and informative paperwork.

Second:
You must make a reservation with us. You may do this in person at Superior Court at the Law and Justice Center on the Fourth Floor, or by calling (360) 740-1333.

Third:
The auditor’s packet (license and certificates) and the ceremony fee (see below) must be delivered to Superior Court at the Law and Justice Center on the Fourth Floor, at least two days before the wedding. Any fee tendered must be in cash.

Please be aware that statute requires that at least two adult witnesses be present at the wedding. If needed, we can provide witnesses for you for a fee (see below). You will schedule and pay for the witnesses at the time that you deliver the auditor’s packet to Superior Court.

On the day of the wedding ceremony, all members of the wedding party must arrive at Lewis County Superior Court by 4:30 p.m.

Off-site weddings – By agreement, depending on location and time commitment

MARRIAGE WITNESS FEE SCHEDULE (if we are providing witnesses)
Monday – Friday: $15/per witness
