Lewis County Technical Rescue Team

In 2014, partnerships were made to form the Lewis County Technical Rescue Team. This team is comprised of the following departments:

  • Lewis County Sheriff's Office
  • Chehalis Fire Department
  • Lewis County Fire District 6
  • Lewis County Fire District 15
  • Lewis County Fire District 2

This multi-agency technical rescue team services all 2,436 square miles of Lewis County. The team operates with and maintains a cache of specialized equipment centered in Lewis County. This equipment includes, ropes and vital rope rescue hardware, inflatable kayaks, inflatable boats, and various other technical tools for serving the varying landscapes of Lewis County. This team is dispatched by the Lewis County Emergency 9-1-1 Center at Central Dispatch. The approximately 30 dedicated members of this team train several times throughout the year and are deployed on missions numerous times annually. The team is responsible for swiftwater operations, water rescues, and high and low angle rope rescue. The technical rescue team's most common mission is water rescue operations during flood emergencies.
